The Cleveland Browns are reportedly getting close to having wide receiver Josh Gordon back in the fold.
A source told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com that Gordon is “getting closer” to returning, though likely not before Tuesday, which would typically mean he will not qualify for restricted free agency after the season. The Browns have, however, worked with the NFL to ensure that Gordon doesn’t feel pressured to return by that deadline and will not be hurt by missing it.
Gordon is reportedly in Gainesville, Fla., the same place he rehabbed last summer. He is said to be doing well and working with some of the same counselors as he did then.
Browns teammates have heard from Gordon, and he appears to be doing well. Importantly, both the Browns and the NFL seem happy to accommodate his needs.
