Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson put teammate Jordan Addison on blast for a move that got Addison benched for part of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
Addison sat out the first quarter of Sunday’s game in London after he missed a walkthrough during the week, according to head coach Kevin O’Connell. That also did not sit well with Jefferson, who said he exchanged words with Addison about the situation and that he needed to be a better mentor.
“I definitely had my words with JA,” Jefferson said, via Alec Lewis of The Athletic. “It’s just all about growing up, and just being a part of the team, and knowing the stakes. … I’ve just got to do better keeping him under my wing, and making sure he has his head on straight.”
Addison’s issues are more worrying since he just got disciplined by the NFL for a 2024 DUI citation. One would hope that might inspire him to avoid behavior like this, but in this instance, he still ran afoul of the rules.
Addison did ultimately play the final three quarters and wound up catching the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter. He had five catches for 41 yards in a 21-17 victory over Cleveland.
