Kareem Hunt released by Chiefs, lied to them about incident

Kareem Hunt

The Kansas City Chiefs have acted swiftly and decisively about Kareem Hunt.

The team announced on Friday night that they have released the running back. The team said in a statement that Hunt lied to them about the incident, and the video proved that.

“As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.”

Hunt’s alleged assault was reported back in February, but the running back was not punished by the league. On Friday, TMZ published video that showed Hunt pushing and kicking the woman. Both the team and league said they had not seen the video prior to TMZ publishing it.

Hunt is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list and ineligible to play or practice. He will be placed on waivers.
