Karl-Anthony Towns heads to locker room with apparent leg injury
New York Knicks fans held their collective breath as Karl-Anthony Towns left Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bulls with an apparent leg injury.
The Knicks lost to the Bulls in a 139-126 affair at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. Towns left the game after he hurt his leg while finishing an and-1 layup in transition.
The 4-time All-Star sank the bonus free throw to cut the Knicks’ deficit to 138-126. But New York was forced to intentionally foul immediately to get Towns out of the game. He went straight to the locker room after the foul was called and appeared to be holding on to his right hamstring.

Towns left the contest with a monstrous stat line: 44 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 assists on 17/29 shooting.
The Knicks have very little depth in the interior behind KAT should he miss significant time with the injury. Backup centers Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims have only been used sparingly by head coach Tom Thibodeau, who often relies heavily on his core players.
Towns is in the midst of arguably the best season of his career. He entered Saturday’s game averaging 24.7 points and career highs in both rebounds (14.0) and field goal shooting (54.8%).
