Kiko Alonso is no stranger to being fined and penalized for controversial hits, and the latest questionable play from the Miami Dolphins linebacker resulted in him being ejected from Sunday’s game.
Alonso was flagged for unnecessary roughness after officials determined he hit a sliding Josh Allen late. While Allen actually avoided major contact, it looked like Alonso was trying to lay a huge hit on him after he had already given himself up.

While he will likely make the argument that he successfully avoided a major collision with Allen, it is no surprise Alonso did not get the benefit of the doubt. He hit Andrew Luck on a similar play earlier this season and was fined $9,000 for a vicious cheap shot on Joe Flacco last year. Alonso may not be fined or suspended this time because the contact was actually minimal, but the intent appeared to be there.
