Kyle Shanahan reportedly chases down, curses at replacement ref after game

It seems everyone is upset with the NFL’s replacement officials these days, but some are able to handle it better than others. Generally speaking, the coaches and players from losing teams are more upset with the refs than those who won. Shocking, I know. After the Redskins lost to the Bengals on Sunday, Washington offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was seen chasing down and reportedly berating a replacement official in the tunnel heading into the locker room.

NBC 4 anchor Dan Hellie also reported that Shanahan followed the refs as they were heading through the tunnel. As Mike Jones of the Washington Post explained, Shanahan was apparently irate about an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he received for running onto the field to protest a 10-second run-off following a Redskins false start penalty near the end of the game. Below are some more photos that D.C. Sports Bog shared with us that clearly show some sort of exchange took place:

Players and coaches have already been issued an official warning from the league regarding arguing with the replacement officials, and the amount of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties we saw handed out to coaches on Sunday reflected that. Like Bill Belichick — who grabbed an official after the Patriots lost to the Ravens — Shanahan is almost certain to be facing a hefty fine and/or suspension.
