Kyle Van Noy says ex-Patriots want new identity with Dolphins

Kyle Van Noy

Four former members of the New England Patriots have joined the Miami Dolphins this offseason, where former New England assistant Brian Flores serves as head coach. According to one of those players, however, they’re not focusing on emulating the New England dynasty.

Kyle Van Noy said the group of ex-Patriots, which also includes Ted Karras and Elandon Roberts, don’t simply want to emulate the so-called Patriot Way in their new home.

“I don’t know how many New England guys there are, but we’re going to get away from that,” Van Noy said, via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald. “We’re our own team, this is not the New England Patriots. This is the Miami Dolphins. It’s totally different, and I’m excited for that. New beginnings.”

We’ve seen former Belichick assistants try to emulate their former boss’s strict management style on other teams. Without Belichick’s resume, it seems to fall flat a lot. Perhaps Flores and his former Patriot players are taking a different approach that will pay off in Miami.
