Veteran defensive end Joey Bosa is still looking for a new contract amid the NFL free agency.
Bosa, who last suited up for the Buffalo Bills in the 2025 season, is free to sign with any team, especially one that’s looking to shore up its pass rush unit.
For Matt Okada of NFL.com, the idea of the New England Patriots taking a chance on Bosa is appealing.
“New England could shift that trade capital to acquire Maxx Crosby from the Raiders. Mike Vrabel’s defense would be an absolute terror with the five-time Pro Bowler on the edge,” said Okada, who mentioned some veterans as options for New England, including Bosa.
“The more mild and realistic option is to draft an edge rusher in the first round and sign one of the well-seasoned rotational veterans still on the market — Joey Bosa, Haason Reddick, Cameron Jordan or former Patriot Kyle Van Noy.”
Injury concerns remain a key factor involving Bosa, though he was able to play 15 games with the Bills. Before that, he played 14 games in 2024, his final season with the Los Angeles Chargers, and collected his fifth Pro Bowl nod.
Bosa can potentially help improve New England’s defense, which posted just 35 sacks and a mediocre 20.3% QB pressure rate.
The 30-year-old Bosa has 77.0 sacks and 22 forced fumbles in 122 games so far in his NFL career, which began in 2016.
