The Seattle Seahawks showed wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba the money.
Smith-Njigba, fresh off winning a Super Bowl with the Seahawks, has agreed to a staggering 4-year, $168.6 million contract extension with Seattle, according to multiple reports on Monday.
With that new deal, the former Ohio State Buckeyes star is now the highest-paid wide receiver in the history of the NFL, Adam Schefter of ESPN noted in his report.
Smith-Njigba had a quiet performance in Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots, recording just 27 receiving yards on four catches from 10 targets in Seattle’s 29-13 win at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Still, the Seahawks wouldn’t have gotten that far without his incredible 2025 season.
During that campaign, he led the league with 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 119 catches and 163 targets, while playing in all 17 games.
With his shiny new deal, Smith-Njigba is under contract with the reigning Super Bowl champions up to the 2031 season. That means Seattle will have him in the fold for his prime years. Smith-Njigba turned 24 in February and may not have hit his ceiling in the NFL yet.
A two-time Pro Bowler and winner of the 2025 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award, Smith-Njigba gets over $120 million in guaranteed money from his extension, which also comes with a record-setting average annual value of $42.15 million.
