Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray will be celebrating his 29th birthday on Friday, and he has a neat gesture in store for his hometown.
Murray is from Dallas, Texas, and he plans to donate $29,000 to the Dallas Independent School District’s Family and Community Engagement Department.

Murray was born in Bedford, Texas, which is less than 30 miles from Dallas. He played at Allen High School in Allen, Texas, and played one season at Texas A&M before transferring to Oklahoma.
Murray spent his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals after they selected him first overall in 2019, but he was released and then signed with the Vikings this offseason.
Murray has been supportive of his home state time and time again, and this is the latest example as he is shelling out a big check.
As far as football goes, Kyler Murray is currently battling it out with J.J. McCarthy for the Vikings’ QB1 job, and some expect Murray to be the starter for Week 1. NFL insider Ian Rapoport also said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Murray was the starter for the regular season.

Minnesota’s first preseason game is on Saturday, August 15, against the New York Giants.
The first regular season game for Minnesota is on Sunday, September 13, against the Green Bay Packers in Minnesota, and head coach Kevin O’Connell should have a decision by then.
