Fresh off a big win over the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers, Kyler Murray is heat-checking right now.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback Murray announced to social media on Monday that he has entered into an extremely fitting business venture. Murray has a new partnership with the “Call of Duty” video game series.

“To the trolls who memed me into a bag, thank you!” Murray wrote in the caption of his post.

The news comes ahead of the release of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” later this month. It is the first “Call of Duty” game to be released since “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” in 2023 and the first of the “Black Ops” sub-series since 2020’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.”

The two-time Pro Bowler Murray is known as a huge fan of “Call of Duty” and has often found himself as the butt of jokes because of how often he plays it. NFL opponents have trolled Murray over his supposed obsession with the game, and a fan theory even emerged years ago claiming that Murray performs worse on big video game weekends.

Most infamously, the Cardinals once included an “independent study” clause in Murray’s contract that required him to complete four hours of study before every game. Fans mockingly called it the “Call of Duty clause” (though Arizona removed the clause in Murray’s contract shortly thereafter).

Now 27, Murray has had a nifty start to 2024 with the 2-3 Cardinals, throwing for 972 yards and seven touchdowns to two interceptions (with another 247 yards and a touchdown as a runner). Murray clearly took note of all the “Call of Duty” memes as well and has now turned those jokes into a nice new payday for himself.
