LeSean McCoy missed voluntary workouts due to son’s birthday?
The Buffalo Bills began the voluntary portion of their offseason workouts on Monday, and the only missing player was a notable one.
Where was LeSean McCoy?
New Bills head coach Sean McDermott told reporters McCoy was the only player not in attendance, but he did not express concern over it.

While it is strange that only one member of the team would miss the workout, ESPN’s Mike Rodak noted that McCoy’s Instagram indicated the star running back’s son was celebrating his fifth birthday on Monday.
That would be a solid excuse for missing the first workout — not that a player needs an excuse for missing a voluntary session. By the very nature of the offseason rules, McCoy does not owe anyone an explanation. Missing a mandatory workout would be a much different story.
McCoy had one of his best years as a pro last season, rushing for more than 1,200 yards and adding 356 yards receiving. If his reaction to being left off of a top 101 players list recently is any indication, the Bills shouldn’t have to worry about his focus level heading into 2017.
