Levi’s Stadium turf was apparently very slippery for Michael Oher (Video)
So, how was the much-maligned turf at Levi’s Stadium for Sunday’s Super Bowl? Judging by one instance, it could have been a lot better.
Here’s a look at the Carolina left tackle attempting to pass block for Cam Newton. It also doubles as a glimpse of what Football On Ice would be like.
This looks like a video game glitch. Full credit to Oher for holding his block long enough for Newton to get a pass away. That couldn’t possibly have been easy.
There were some concerns over the turf before the game, and it received mixed reviews afterwards. According to ProFootballTalk’s Darin Gantt, the always magnanimous Ron Rivera called it “outstanding,” while the less-diplomatic Aqib Talib called it “terrible.” Judging by this, Talib seems to have been closer to the mark.
Luckily, the turf didn’t seem to negatively impact the game much, nor did it lead to any serious, preventable injuries like St. Louis’s shoddy home field did.
