Bryson DeChambeau seemed perturbed with Rory McIlroy over the Masters champion’s behavior on Sunday.
DeChambeau and McIlroy spent all day Sunday playing their final round together at the 89th Masters as they comprised the final pairing. McIlroy, who began the day -12, entered the final round leading DeChambeau by two strokes. Though McIlroy hung on for his first ever Masters win, DeChambeau finished tied for fifth after shooting a 3-over 75.
DeChambeau spoke with the media after his round and was asked if he had talked with McIlroy and had any idea how the 35-year-old was doing following the win.

“No idea,” DeChambeau said of McIlroy. “He didn’t talk to me once all day.”
A reporter asked whether DeChambeau had tried to initiate any conversations with McIlroy.
“Ah, he wouldn’t talk to me,” DeChambeau added.

Based on his demeanor and tone, DeChambeau seemed annoyed with McIlroy’s behavior.
Why might have McIlroy given DeChambeau the cold shoulder? In 2024, McIlroy blew the US Open and lost to DeChambeau. McIlroy had a two-stroke lead with four holes to play but missed close putts on 16 and 18. His bogeys opened the door for DeChambeau to win his second major.
Perhaps McIlroy was trying to remain locked in on Sunday and that’s why he froze out DeChambeau. Bryson may be annoyed over it, but the approach worked for McIlroy, who is now the sixth golfer to win all four majors. The two certainly weren’t as friendly as they were at Shadow Creek in December.
