Flowers was regarded as perhaps the top talent available in free agency. He has 21 sacks over the last three seasons with the New England Patriots.
The Lions were one of the biggest spenders on the first day of free agency negotiations. In addition to nabbing Danny Amendola, they made Justin Coleman the highest-paid nickel corner in the sport. Not coincidentally for an organization coached by ex-Patriot Matt Patricia and run by a former Patriots executive in Bob Quinn, all three players once played for New England.
