It sounds like Malcolm Butler could end up playing for the New Orleans Saints next season and beyond.
Butler had a visit with the Saints that ended, and it reportedly went well. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says that while the sides have not made a deal yet, they are motivated to get one done.

Butler was mentioned in potential trade talks involving the Patriots and Saints for Brandin Cooks, who was traded to New England last week in a deal that included draft picks. Butler reportedly blocked a trade to New Orleans by not signing his tender.
Butler’s agent has been working towards finding a deal for his client, who has emerged as one of the best cornerbacks in the league. As a restricted free agent, the Patriots could work out a deal with the Saints to receive some compensation if Butler signs an offer sheet with New Orleans that New England decides not to match.
The Pats’ offseason signing of Stephon Gilmore made it unlikely for them to pay big money to Butler long-term.
