Old Malik Nabers quote resurfaces after Giants make QB change

An old quote from New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers re-emerged Tuesday after the team decided to bench QB Russell Wilson in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart.

The Giants’ quarterback issues go back to 2024 and beyond, when Nabers was a rookie and Daniel Jones was benched midway through the season. The Giants started Tommy DeVito instead and lost 30-7 to Tampa Bay, prompting Nabers’ response to make the rounds again on social media.

“It ain’t the quarterback. Same outcome when we had DJ at quarterback. Take a look. It ain’t the quarterback,” Nabers said.

The Giants benched another quarterback on Tuesday, this time dumping Wilson in favor of Dart. That was enough to bring the quote back. Nabers’ point was that the Giants did not improve after benching Wilson, so the franchise’s issues clearly run deeper than one position.

Wilson has been poor this season with three touchdowns and three interceptions, though all three touchdowns game in Week 2. The Giants figure Dart could give them a boost, but it is no guarantee.

As for Nabers, he will be good with whoever gets him the ball. Perhaps Dart will get the memo, because Nabers only got two catches on seven targets in the Giants’ Week 3 loss.
