Mark Sanchez calls Broncos quarterback job ‘a gift-wrapped opportunity’
Don’t even try to tell Mark Sanchez that the Denver Broncos are seeking a regular starter. He’s ready and he doesn’t care what they think.
Sanchez continues to prep as if he’ll be the Denver quarterback, and he sounds extremely motivated to win the job.
“Coming to the Denver Broncos, this is a gift-wrapped opportunity. I believe in fate and destiny,” Sanchez told Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post. “There’s no excuse. I need to take full advantage. There’s nothing more important in my life than this.
“It started when I was just a little guy,” Sanchez said. “Whether it was throwing the ball after practice, hitting extra in the batting cage, taking extra groundballs, it was always about working when somebody is sleeping. I love to compete, and I love football. Sunday, man, you win — oh, my God. You win and everything is better. And, man, I hate losing. Food tastes terrible; you are in bad mood. It’s a sickness. It’s disgusting. Everything I have been through has made me appreciate this more and made me ready for this. I just kept hoping the last few years I would get another shot. It’s here. It’s all I can ask for. So let’s go!”
The Broncos tried and failed to acquire Colin Kaepernick, so they’re back to square one, which is Sanchez. Even if it isn’t Kaepernick, Denver will almost certainly try to bring in some competition for the Sanchize. He sounds like he’s ready for it, and he’s talked about how confident he is, even if his teammates may not be.
