Mark Sanchez: ‘I will bet on myself’ in Broncos QB competition
Mark Sanchez may not have many believers left, but he still has all the confidence in the world in himself.
Sanchez says he’s backing himself no matter who the Denver Broncos bring in to compete with him for the starting quarterback job.
“Listen, I don’t care who is there, what is going on right now. They are going to give me a fair shake, that’s all I can ask for, a fair shot,” Sanchez said, via Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post. “I am good. Let’s go. I will bet on myself and compete my butt off. I will be friendly and professional with whoever is there. But I want this bad. Really bad. I want what they experienced last year.”
The Sanchize hasn’t been a first stringer since he was with the Jets in 2012. A shoulder injury cost him 2013 and he was a backup to Nick Foles and Sam Bradford, respectively, in 2014 and 2015, taking over only through injury. Denver, though, is running out of alternatives. They’re apparently not getting Colin Kaepernick anytime soon, and Sanchez may end up being the starter unless the Broncos enter the fray for this quarterback or make a trade. He’d better get to work trying to win his teammates over, because at least one of them seems skeptical of his ability.
