Marshawn Lynch’s mom goes off on reporter who says Seahawks can win without him
Marshawn Lynch has yet to report to training camp with the Seattle Seahawks as he continues to seek a new contract. The 28-year-old bruiser has been a huge factor in Seattle’s success over the past few seasons, but does the team still need him? One reporter doesn’t think so, and Lynch’s mom is furious with said reporter.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Terry Blount wrote that the Seahawks can continue to play at a championship level without Lynch. He argued that the team has all the leverage in this situation due to the fact that they were 7-0 last season in games when Lynch rushed for less than 70 yards and blew out the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl with Lynch rushing for 39 yards on 13 carries.
Beast Mode’s mom, Sunshine Lynch, respectfully disagrees with Blount. As Deadspin pointed out, here’s what she wrote in the comment section under Blount’s article before sharing the article on her Facebook page.
WOW !!! DID ANYONE TAKE IN TO CONSUDERATION THE GAME WAS WON BY A TEAM EFFORT TO ME IN THE 1ST HALF.NOT EVEN THE FACT THAT THE BRONCOS WERE TRYING TO HURT MARSHAWN LITTERLY IN THE 2ND HALF AND HIM BEING THE HUMBLE PLAYER HE IS WANTED HIS OTHER RUNNING BACK TO HAVE SOME PLAY TIME TOO .SO WAS IT REALLY NECESSARY FOR HIM TO CONTINUE TO PLAY .??? MAN REPORTERS DONT THINK THEY GUESS , I GUESS THATS WHY HE HATES REPORTERS , SORTA NAKING ME FEEL THAT WAY TOO !!!! :( STOP GUESSING JUST REPORT THE FACTS PLEASE.
Yeah, Sunshine went all caps on his ass. While I’m not sure I agree with her assertion that Lynch was the one who decided to give other running backs playing time in the Super Bowl, we see why she is upset. After all, someone is downplaying her baby’s impact on the team.
Blount is right. Lynch is a tremendous player and one of the best running backs in the NFL, but he is entering the dreaded late-20s portion of his career. The Seahawks drafted Christine Michael in the second round last year for a reason, and they have already made it clear that they plan to use him as part of a running back by committee approach. Lynch may not win the financial battle.
