Matt Barkley responds to article questioning arm strength via Reddit

173354693DH1361_patriot_eagleAfter impressing during the opportunity he was given last season, Nick Foles made the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback job his by helping the team to the playoffs since 2010 while earning himself a Pro Bowl berth in the process.

Who will be Foles’ backup in 2014 has yet to be decided. The Eagles brought Mark Sanchez in on a one-year deal and Matt Barkley is in the mix as well. Although last year’s fourth round draft pick will have you believe he has a chance to be the starter.

This offseason will be an important one to determine where Barkley sits on the depth chart when the regular season rolls around. As Jimmy Kempski of Philly.com notes, Barkley’s arm strength has been a concern early in minicamp.

Kempski’s article made its way to Reddit and, as luck would have it, found the eyes of Matt Barkley, who had a few words to say in response.

Barkley wrote via his Reddit account:

“Easy there Jimmy, you don’t know a thing about that route, the defensive coverage, technique of the wide receiver, the route he was actually running, let alone my maximum velocity arm strength.

We can play catch sometime if you want to figure out for yourself how hard I can throw it, just lemme know

Edit: Nothing personal, don’t mean to spark a war, just letting you all know there is no concern with my arm strength :)”

As we have seen before, Matt Barkley and criticism don’t necessarily mix too well. Barkley had a few words for Adam Schefter regarding comments made about his rookie contract. Then there was Barkley’s response to ESPN’s Merril Hoge, who felt teams should be concerned with his arm strength leading up to the draft.

Criticize Matt Barkley at your own risk.
