Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford missed last week’s game after doctors would not clear him because of a back injury he has been dealing with, and the ailment is going to sideline him for at least another week.
Lions head coach Matt Patricia told reporters on Friday that Stafford will not play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Matt Patricia on if there's any scenario where Stafford plays Sunday: "Not this Sunday, no."

Stafford has fractured bones in his back, and the injury is the same one that he played through for much of last season. Because he has battled through it in the past, his timeline for recovery is unclear. If Stafford plays again this season, it will likely be at less than 100 percent.
By missing last week’s game against the Chicago Bears, Stafford snapped a remarkable streak of 136 consecutive games started. The Lions are now 3-5-1 and fighting to remain alive in the playoff hunt, but their season may be doomed if Stafford can’t get healthy enough to play.
