Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons had a firm warning for the organization about the upcoming offseason.
Speaking after a charity event on Thursday, Parsons called on owner Jerry Jones and the rest of the front office to be aggressive in free agency. In what he referred to as a “call to action,” Parsons urged the Cowboys to make moves instead of sitting back and letting other teams make a big splash in free agency.
“The talent is there, we just got to be aggressive the same way [other teams] did,” Parsons said, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I don’t want to sit back and watch other [teams] build and build and us stay the same. Definitely some call to action. I want to see us become aggressive and get some players that will come in and make an impact. I want to see us bring back our own players, that’s just as important. Let’s see what we can do there.”

Parsons’ call to action might hold a bit more weight as he enters the final year of his rookie contract, though there have actually been rumors that he might be a trade candidate if extension talks are unsuccessful. Regardless, Parsons’ comments echo those of one of his teammates, as Cowboys players clearly believe they are closer than they look to being able to contend for a championship.
Unfortunately for Parsons, it is unclear if the organization feels the same way. A year ago, they infamously pronounced themselves “all-in” before a largely quiet offseason. It is unclear if the team plans to pursue any big moves this year, but there are definitely some concerns after the team’s new head coaching hire has been viewed as unambitious, even by some franchise legends.
Parsons had 12 sacks last season to bring his career total to 52.5 in just four seasons. The Cowboys should want to maximize their window to win with him, especially since he is about to get a lot more expensive. With the organization at a crossroads, however, it is not certain that they will do that.
