Micah Parsons reported to Dallas Cowboys camp on Tuesday, but there does not appear to be much love lost between him and owner Jerry Jones at the moment.
Parsons discussed his ongoing contract negotiations with the Cowboys, and essentially said the ball is in the team’s court. He admitted he is “discouraged” at the slow pace of talks while other players around the league at his position have been rewarded with new deals.
Parsons also added that his decision to report to training camp had nothing to do with Jones.
“I’m doing this for myself and my teammates. This isn’t for Jerry,” Parsons said.
Cowboys DE Micah Parsons: “There’s really not much movement” on contract talks. “I want to be here. At the end of the day, they sign the checks. Let’s see if they want me to be here.”

The latest comments come one day after Jones took a strange swipe at Parsons by highlighting a perceived lack of durability. Parsons responded by reposting a message from JJ Watt that criticized Jones’ approach.
Jones has not necessarily done himself a lot of favors during talks with Parsons. He was critical of the pass rusher’s agent earlier in the offseason. Plus, by merely waiting this long, he let the likes of Myles Garrett and TJ Watt sign new contracts worth over $40 million annually that Parsons will be taking note of and measuring against his own.
Parsons has emerged as one of the best pass rushers in the NFL since Dallas drafted him in 2021. The 25-year-old has collected 52.5 sacks through his first 63 NFL games, including 12 in 13 games in 2024. He is currently entering the final season of his rookie contract, which would pay him roughly $24 million this season.
