Michael Floyd released by Cardinals days after DUI arrest
The Arizona Cardinals have released Michael Floyd in the wake of the wide receiver’s arrest for driving while under the influence early Monday morning.
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday that the team was exploring the ways the collective bargaining agreement allows them to discipline Floyd, so the decision to cut the 27-year-old should not come as a shock.

The Cardinals selected Floyd at No. 12 overall in the 2012 draft, and he has ultimately been a disappointment. He has just one season with more than 1,000 receiving yards and never emerged as the No. 1 passing option the team envisioned he would be. Floyd was schedule to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Floyd’s DUI arrest was his second in five years.
