Michael Irvin is taking his talents to the world of [checks notes] professional baseball.
The retired Pro Football Hall of Famer Irvin spoke this week in an interview to Brian Jones of On3. During the interview, Irvin revealed that he will be providing coverage of this year’s MLB Home Run Derby at Citizens Pank in Philadelphia, Pa.
“I’m so looking forward to going out and being around and showcasing the Home Run Derby for Netflix and interviewing guys to bring them on my ‘White House’ show and everything,” he said. “I know it’s in Philadelphia, so I got to walk amongst them, but I’m willing. I’m willing. Let them know, I come in peace. I come in peace. I know the season is right around the corner.
“I’ve always had an interesting relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles, with the fans in Philadelphia,” Irvin added. “I’ve always had fun with them, so I’m looking forward to having fun with them in this situation.”
Irvin, who turned 60 years old earlier this year, already has an established partnership with Netflix. As he hinted at above, Irvin and the streaming giant launched “The White House with Michael Irvin,” a sports video podcast, this past January.
A five-time NFL Pro Bowler at the wide receiver position for the Dallas Cowboys, Irvin is obviously known much more so for his commentary in the sport of football. But Irvin does dabble in some other sports from time to time (including when he recently took a savage swipe at an NBA player) and is now expanding out into baseball coverage as well.
