Mike Evans wants to know where Jameis Winston’s gut went

Jameis Winston fat

Jameis Winston’s weight was a big topic of discussion before he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and during his rookie season. From the sound of it, Winston has spent some time addressing that over the past few months.

On Tuesday, Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans told reporters that Winston looks like he has lost weight this offseason. Evans joked that the quarterback’s infamous gut has disappeared.

“He lost a lot of weight. He slimmed out,” Evans said, via Greg Auman of The Tampa Bay Times. “I was joking with him the other day. He took his shirt off, and I said ‘Man, what happened to the belly?’ He’s got a six-pack like me. He’s put in a tremendous amount of work and I think it’s going to be a great year for him and this whole team.”

Winston’s trainer Tim Grover said recently that Jameis has lost 18 pounds since the season ended.

If you remember, an unflattering photo that showed Winston working out before the draft last year led to a great deal of criticism. The former Florida State star had supposedly lost weight before that, but another photo a month later showed him looking just as chunky. At one point, Winston even cracked a fat joke at his own expense.

Despite the flabbiness, Winston had a very respectable rookie season in Tampa. He should be even better if he comes out in shape in 2016.
