Mychal Kendricks issues statement after being charged with insider trading
The NFL season is just over a week away from kicking off, and it sounds like Cleveland Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks has a lot more to worry about than just football.
Kendricks, who spent the first six years of his career with the Eagles, was one of two men charged in a federal insider trading case on Wednesday. The charge was filed by the US Attorney in Philadelphia.

Kendricks released a statement shortly thereafter admitting that he took part in illegal trading activity. He said he invested money with a friend he trusted and that he did not understand all of the details of his investment but “knew it was wrong.”

Kendricks said he takes full responsibility for his actions and has been cooperating with investigators. He directed any questions to his legal team. The Browns also issued a statement saying he will not be traveling with the team to its fourth preseason game.

Believe it or not, Kendricks actually made headlines this week for some comments he made about former teammates during the latest episode of “Hard Knocks.” That all seems very insignificant now, as the 27-year-old is obviously in serious legal trouble. It would be a surprise if he doesn’t face disciplinary action from the NFL as well.
