The Pittsburgh Steelers had a big win on Sunday against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, but that victory is being overshadowed by an incident involving wide receiver DK Metcalf.
The Steelers’ wideout was caught by a CBS camera having a confrontation with a Lions fan during the first half of the game.
The broadcast showed the fan, who was wearing a blue wig and holding a DK Metcalf Pittsburgh jersey in the stands, getting grabbed by his shirt and seemingly punched by the former Ole Miss star.
It also did not take long before another video of the tense moment emerged online.
Shot from the right side of the incident, the video — shared by “Bussin’ With The Boys” on X — doesn’t reveal much more than the original clip. But it could perhaps be used by the NFL in its investigation of this unfortunate encounter between a player and a fan.
The fan later revealed to the Detroit Free Press that he got under the skin of Metcalf by calling the wide receiver by his full name, DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf.
If anything, Metcalf had the last laugh over the Lions fan, at least from the game’s point of view. The Steelers further hurt Detroit’s chances of making the NFL playoffs with a 29-24 road win, as Pittsburgh overcame a three-touchdown performance by Detroit quarterback Jared Goff and survived the Lions’ comeback bid that ended controversially.
