New England Patriots fans may have to start saving up for an AJ Brown Pats jersey.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, the veteran wide receiver is “likely” to be traded by the Philadelphia Eagles to the Patriots in the offseason.
Schefter said that the Patriots and the Eagles have already engaged in trade talks involving the three-time Pro Bowler wideout, but if the deal is to happen, it will take place after June 1.
There is a good reason why the Eagles would wait until June for such a trade to go through. Philadelphia would absorb a $40 million cap hit in 2026 if they trade Brown before June 1. After June 1, however, the Eagles can spread that amount across the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Of course, nothing is guaranteed about Brown’s final destination in the offseason, but Schefter’s latest report on the former Ole Miss Rebels star makes it sound like Brown’s time in the City of Brotherly Love is over.
New England would be a new environment for Brown, but a trade to the AFC East franchise would also reunite him with his former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.
Brown, who will be 29 years old in June, has recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards in six of his seven seasons so far in the NFL.
