The NFL released a statement on Saturday regarding Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest the national anthem. Not surprisingly, Kaepernick will not face any disciplinary action.
According to Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports, the NFL says it encouraged players to stand during the national anthem but will not force them to do so.

The San Francisco 49ers have already supported Kaepernick’s right to choose whether he wants to acknowledge the national anthem. It’s probably safe to say the majority of fans do not feel the same way.
Kaepernick said protesting the national anthem is something he has been considering doing for several months. You can read more of his explanation here.
