Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is known for using unusual methods to evaluate potential NFL players, and that theme has apparently continued at the Scouting Combine this year.

According to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philly, the Eagles brought a mini basketball hoop with them to the Combine in Indianapolis. Several prospects have said they shot “free throws” during their meetings with Sirianni and the Eagles.

Had it been another team, we might have been somewhat surprised. Last year, Sirianni proudly discussed one of the unorthodox ways in which he tested the competitive spirit of prospects. Having NFL hopefuls shoot free throws on a tiny hoop seems like his style.

The Eagles went 4-11-1 in Sirianni’s first season in 2020. They then posted a 9-8 record and reached the playoffs this past season. Sirianni’s whacky methods might be working.
