So many teams passed on Shedeur Sanders in the draft that it became clear many franchise had removed him from their boards entirely. We’re effectively receiving confirmation of that belief.
There were numerous quarterback-needy teams that kept passing on Sanders round after round in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns all had multiple chances to draft Sanders but declined to do so before the Browns eventually did in the fifth round. Sanders going so long without being drafted, especially when teams had a need at quarterback, suggests many franchises just were not going to draft him — due to character issues.
Arash Markazi quoted an anonymous scout on Saturday who had said Sanders was off many teams’ draft boards.
I asked a scout about Shedeur Sanders and he said:

"I know you're focused on him with each passing pick but you'd be amazed at the number of teams that don't even have him on their board. They're not even considering him. He's not a part of their conversations."
“Shedeur Sanders just torpedo’d himself,” Esiason said on Monday. “His attitude off the field, at the combine … his dad didn’t help him either. He was on podcast talking about, ‘this is my son, if I can get him to where I want to get him to, I’m going to do that.’ But when you listen to this kid talk … he’s very high on himself. And I think he was very offputting to many many coaches and general managers in the league.
“And I’m telling you right now after talking to three different personnel people in the NFL this weekend, they didn’t even have him on their board. They took him off, and they took him off because the owner said ‘take him off. I don’t want that guy. I don’t want this entitled person on this team,'” Esiason said.

The Sanders family made a huge miscalculation. They had behaved for over a year like Shedeur was going to be a top-five pick in the draft. That’s how Shedeur apparently acted in his interviews with teams. Instead, he kept getting passed over and passed over until the Browns finally took him in the fifth round.
If this won’t serve as a wake-up call for Deion Sanders, nothing will. There is no other explanation for the deep slide than the behavior of Shedeur and Deion. Teams obviously did not want to deal with either the fan and son, and they did not feel Shedeur’s talent made up for his reportedly entitled behavior.
