Report: No DNA found on knife outside OJ Simpson’s house
The knife that was found buried outside of O.J. Simpson’s home in California several years ago contains no DNA, according to a new report.
Sources familiar with an investigation being conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department told TMZ that DNA testing on the knife produced no matches. Since the knife was buried for so long, microbes in the soil likely would have degraded any blood that could have been present. There were also no hair samples found.
The LAPD released a statement Tuesday claiming the lead investigator on the case has not received any DNA results from the crime lab, though TMZ reports that the investigation has concluded.
For those of you who missed the first part of this story, it sounded like something that could only happen in a Hollywood film. Apparently a knife was found buried somewhere outside Simpson’s house “several years ago” when it was demolished. A construction worker then took it to an off-duty police officer who was not exactly responsible with it. You can read more details here.
Even if DNA was found on the knife, our legal expert Andrew J. Botros has explained why Simpson could not be tried again for murder.
