Report: Odell Beckham Jr was ‘a little surprised’ by trade to Browns
Odell Beckham Jr knew his name was in and out of trade rumors, but he still apparently was surprised to hear he had been traded.
Beckham was traded by the New York Giants to the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday for a first and third-round pick, and safety Jabril Peppers.
According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, Beckham was “a little surprised” to learn of the deal.
Odell Beckham was 'a little surprised' when he was told of the trade, according to a source close to him. Giants GM Dave Gettleman called him to personally tell him about the deal.

WFAN’s Kim Jones says Beckham called the trade “bittersweet” and said he was trying to process the news.
Just talked to Odell Beckham Jr, who said he had a “brief” convo w/Dave Gettleman. “At this point I have no idea what to think. I’m trying to process it right now.” Said leaving #NYG is “bittersweet, but it is what it is. It’s life.”

Beckham had just signed a new contract with the Giants last year, which probably made him believe he would be staying. Comments from the team’s GM in January probably helped him feel that way. The truth is he’ll be much better off in Cleveland.
The Browns are ascending and have a young, emerging quarterback. The Giants seem to be going in the opposite direction.
