Panthers hire Phil Snow as defensive coordinator
The Carolina Panthers continue to fill out their coaching staff, and their latest hire is a familiar name to new coach Matt Rhule.
The Panthers officially announced on Monday that Phil Snow is the team’s new defensive coordinator, moving to the NFL from the same position on Rhule’s staff at Baylor.
Snow has had a long career as a collegiate defensive coordinator, but has limited NFL experience. He served as the linebackers coach for the Detroit Lions from 2005-2008.
Snow joins a staff loaded with college coaching talent. In addition to Rhule himself, the Panthers have brought in the top offensive coach in the country last season to run that side of the ball. They’ve invested a lot in making that happen, and it’s going to be very interesting to see how it works out.
