Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is drawing steady interest from at least one team ahead of the NFL Draft.
The New Orleans Saints have shown significant interest in Ewers, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. Howe adds that the Texas quarterback could go in the second or third round of the draft.
The Saints have shown a lot of interest in Ewers. He could be a second-day pick, according to the teams I’ve heard from. https://t.co/DEoRV0r3sa

The report comes after Ewers’ Pro Day on Tuesday. Howe noted that Ewers scripted the entire workout by himself, which NFL teams are likely to view positively.
Ewers is quickly carving out a lane as a well-prepared leader at the quarterback position. He has shown in big games his ability to make quick reads and decisions on the fly, traits that NFL teams also love. However, he has been held back as a prospect by inconsistency and concerns about his decision-making.
The Saints are keeping Derek Carr around for at least one more year, and they also picked Spencer Rattler in the fifth round of last year’s draft. Carr definitely is not a long-term solution at the position, and Rattler probably isn’t either. That, combined with the raw talent, might entice the Saints to see if Ewers can develop into an NFL starter down the road.
Ewers threw for 3,472 yards as a senior with Texas last season. He threw 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and led the Longhorns to the semi-finals of the College Football Playoff.
