Rams have not heard from Tre Mason in seven months
The Los Angeles Rams have not heard from Tre Mason since the 2015 season ended.
Team officials told ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Adam Kaplan on Tuesday that they have tried to contact Mason on several occasions but had no luck. The Rams know he was arrested in March for possession of marijuana and other charges, but they have not been in touch with him directly for roughly seven months.
While Mason’s agent, Bus Cook, and some family members have spoken to the Rams, the team has been given no information about Mason’s whereabouts. The 22-year-old running back was a no-show for the start of training camp and has been placed on the reserve/did not report list.
As Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said over the weekend, Mason’s health is more important than his football career at the moment. Gregory Cox of the Palm Beach Post reports that Mason was admitted for a psychological evaluation last month after police were called to his Florida home for at least the fifth time since March. The former Auburn star is said to have made bizarre comments about Al Qaeda and punched a hole in a wall. You can read more details about the incident here.
It’s unclear if Mason intends to continue his football career. Given all we have heard, he is probably doing the right thing by taking some time off. Hopefully he’s able to get the help he needs.
