Washington Redskins veteran offensive lineman Trent Williams underwent testing for what appeared to be a serious health issue earlier this offseason, but fortunately it sounds like he has received good news from doctors.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported on Monday that Williams had a medical scare over the past several weeks when a growth or tumor was discovered on his head. Doctors initially feared that it could be malignant, but Williams has since had the mass removed and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
While the details of the procedure or testing are unclear, Rapoport notes that some of Williams’ teammates were recently under the impression that the seven-time Pro Bowler could miss the entire 2018 season. However, he is not expected to miss significant time barring any new developments.
Williams has dealt with some injuries over the past couple of seasons, but it’s always alarming when you hear that someone needs a growth removed from his or her head. We’re glad to hear he is expected to be fine.
