Reuben Foster’s ex-girlfriend opens up about domestic violence incidents

Reuben Foster

Reuben Foster has been arrested for domestic violence multiple times in the past year, and the victim has decided to open up about what the NFL star has put her through in the time she has had a relationship with him.

In an emotional interview with “Good Morning America,” Elissa Ennis revealed that Foster physically assaulted her on three separate occasions. She called police after the most recent and back in February, and she said a neighbor called police during another incident in October. Last month, Foster invited Ennis out to California so the two could work on their relationship. Ennis said she discovered Foster had a new girlfriend and told him she was going to tell the woman the linebacker paid for her flight out to California, which is what triggered him to slap and push her.

Ennis, who is 28 and met Foster when he was playing for Auburn in the Sugar Bowl back in 2014, said both she and Foster had been seeing therapists to help their relationship. She thought to herself “I can’t believe you’re back to doing this” when he hit her again.

In February, Ennis says Foster threw her clothes off the balcony of his house, dragged her down the stairs, punched her in the face multiple times, kicked her and spit on her. Foster was arrested, but the charges were dropped after Ennis recanted her story and claimed her injuries stemmed from a fight with another woman. She admitted on Thursday that she lied to protect Foster.

“Because I loved him,” Ennis said. “And love will have you doing things that’s not in your best interest for the person you love.”

Ennis said she was “shocked” that the Washington Redskins claimed Foster so quickly after the latest round of allegations against him. Given what she said during the interview, it’s almost impossible to understand how the team felt comfortable signing Foster after conducting its own investigation.
