New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski left Sunday’s game against the New York Jets early in the first half with an injury.
Gronkowski walked with trainers under his own power to the locker room, and the team later revealed he was being evaluated for a back injury.
Gronk was targeted a couple of times on deep balls before exiting, and it was unclear when he may have suffered the injury. He didn’t appear to take a big hit or come up lame at any point.
It was somewhat of a surprise that Gronkowski was active to begin with, as he missed last weekend’s game against the San Francisco 49ers with a lung injury he suffered on this massive hit from Earl Thomas the week before.
The Patriots were trailing the Jets at the time Gronkowski left the game.
