New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is hoping that severe back spasms will cause him to miss only one game.
According to Michael Giardi of NFL Network, Gronkowski is “in play” to return next Monday against the Buffalo Bills, and has been receiving extensive treatment after back spasms kept him out of Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears.
Gronk suffered from painful back spasms Friday. A considerable amount of time was focused on alleviating those issues into Saturday. Team source believes it's a short term thing (at Buffalo Monday in play) but given his history, worth monitoring going forward #Patriots

That adds some context to Gronkowski’s health issues, which seemed to flare up quite quickly on the Friday before their most recent game. The expectation has always been that this won’t be a multi-week injury, and it sounds like that’s proving to be the case, though it’s all a matter of how he continues to respond to treatment.
