Russell Wilson and his representatives have informed the Seattle Seahawks that the quarterback wants a new contract prior to April 15, but that does not mean the situation is going to get ugly if he doesn’t get one.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, April 15 is simply the final date that Wilson is willing to discuss a long-term extension with the Seahawks until next offseason. If no deal is reached, he will still show up to voluntary workouts and minicamp.

As Rapoport notes, the Seahawks still have the option of using the franchise tag on Wilson next offseason. If they let it get to that point, it could be an indication that they are at least considering the possibility of trading him, though that seems highly unlikely.
Wilson is one of the better starting quarterbacks in the NFL and is still just 30. The Seahawks got back to the playoffs last season and have already managed to rebuild their defense, so trying to start fresh at the most important position on the field would make little sense. The more likely outcome is the one that we heard reported earlier on Wednesday, and that is that Wilson is going to be happy with the contract he is expected to get from Seattle.
