Sean Payton calls more than 10 players into his office for ‘review’

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is not happy with his team in the wake of its blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Peyton called more than 10 players into his office for individual performance reviews on Tuesday.

Wow. Sounds very tense in New Orleans today. More than 10 players called individually into #Saints coach Sean Payton’s office for review

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 9, 2014

Wide receiver Joe Morgan was likely one of those players, as the Saints informed him on Tuesday that he is being waived. According to Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune, Payton chased down Morgan at one point during the Saints’ loss to the Panthers and “lit him up on the sideline.”

What does all this mean? Payton is likely on the warpath. If you aren’t familiar with how much of an intense guy Payton is, just watch this video of him and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan getting into it on the sideline.

The Saints, who came into the season with very high expectations surrounding them, should be completely out of the playoff race by now. Instead, the NFC South is so pathetic that they are tied for first at 5-8. Payton is obviously desperate to right the ship before it’s too late.
