Congrats @shaunalexander !
Alexander and his wife got married in 2002, which was during the former running back’s eight-year run with the Seahawks. Alexander played for the Seahawks from 2000-2007 and then spent a year with the Washington Redskins in 2008 before retiring.
Shaun and Valerie welcomed their first child, their daughter Heaven, in September 2003. The couple has since had 12 more children, though one of their children died unexpectedly as an infant.
The 48-year-old Alexander and his wife also have grandchildren, meaning their newest child will be an uncle or aunt to family members who are older than him or her.
Alexander was one of the best running backs in the NFL during his prime. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards each year from 2001-2005. Alexander had 1,880 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns — both single-season Seahawks franchise records — in 2005. He was named NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year that season.
Alexander, who played in college at Alabama, is Seattle’s all-time leading rusher with 9,429 yards.
Most people tend to think of a certain former Pro Bowl quarterback when it comes to former NFL players with the most kids, but Alexander might just be the undisputed champion in that category.
