Some fans seem to think Shedeur Sanders’ free fall in the 2025 NFL Draft may ultimately be a good thing for the Colorado alum.
Two quarterbacks were picked in the first round of Thursday’s draft. Sanders was not one of them. The Tennessee Titans made Miami QB Cam Ward the first overall pick, while the New York Giants, heavily linked to Sanders for months, traded for the 25th pick to select Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart.
Sanders was once considered a contender to be the first name off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. But his stock plummeted over the past several weeks to the point that Las Vegas oddsmakers accurately predicted Sanders to fall out of the first round.
Several spectators took to social media to give Sanders some words of encouragement. Many pointed to the fact that Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson had a similar experience back in 2018.

Somebody tell Shedeur Sanders that the last QB the league didn’t believe in is a two time MVP pic.twitter.com/fyC1xoqFz2

Jackson did end up getting picked in the first round. But four other quarterbacks came off the board before he did. None of those QBs have two MVP awards like he does.
Sanders does not have the same physical profile and two-way potential that Jackson had coming out of Louisville. But like the Ravens star, Sanders will get a similar opportunity to make teams regret passing on him.
