An old conversation between Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward has recently resurfaced on social media.
Back in February, when the gap in perception between Sanders and Ward was much smaller, the pair of QBs held a joint workout. A video from the said workout went viral on Saturday as Sanders continued to slide in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In the clip, Sanders asked Ward to join him in the recording studio so that they could collaborate on a song. The Miami alum refused, insisting that he’s completely focused on football.
Sanders: “Come on, brother. Let’s make a song.”
Ward: “I play football.”
Sanders: “You ain’t got no hobbies outside of that?”
Ward: “I play football. That’s the only thing I want people to know me as: a football player. When they search ‘Cam Ward,’ I want it to say ‘American football.'”
Why did Cam Ward get drafted first but Shedeur slid to the 5th round??

Last year, Sanders released his debut single called “Perfect Timing.” The song became a topic of controversy during Colorado’s season, which Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders had to address.
Some fans felt that the above clip depicted the difference in mindset between Sanders and Ward. While the former comes with a lot of non-football baggage, the latter seems to only want to play football.
Sanders was by far the most talked-about prospect throughout this week’s draft. The Colorado quarterback once touted as a potential top-5 pick fell to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round. Shedeur’s free fall polarized fans and media members alike and even fueled a full-blown meltdown from ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr.
Ward’s NFL draft experience was the complete opposite of what Sanders had to go through. The Tennessee Titans selected Ward first overall, a result that seemed set in stone for weeks leading up to the draft.
