Steven Jackson makes playoffs for first time since rookie season
The New England Patriots signed veteran free agent running back Steven Jackson to a one-year deal on Monday. And with that, Jackson has made the playoffs for the first time since his rookie season.
Jackson, 32, came into the league with the St. Louis Rams in 2004. He appeared in the only playoff game of his career that year, rushing for 68 yards on 19 attempts. As it turns out, the second playoff appearance of his 12-year career will be this year with the Patriots — assuming he remains on the roster.

Brandon Bolden and James White looked good for New England in a win over the Tennessee Titans, but the Pats still need depth. If Jackson has remained in shape and can stay healthy, he should give Bill Belichick another option to use between the tackles down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs.
Both Dion Lewis and LeGarrette Blount have already suffered season-ending injuries.
