Teddy Bridgewater’s trade value on rise with Sam Darnold unsigned?
The New York Jets want rookie Sam Darnold to win their starting quarterback job in training camp this summer, but it will be impossible for him to do that if he does not sign a contract with the team. In the meantime, Teddy Bridgewater is apparently getting a great opportunity to showcase his skills.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports notes that Bridgewater has been a big beneficiary of the Darnold situation, as he is getting most of the first-team reps in Darnold’s absence. That could help boost his trade value.
Biggest beneficiary from Sam Darnold's absence thus far had been Teddy Bridgewater. Getting regular reps. Could be a trade piece elsewhere perhaps depending on Jets QB situation

Bridgewater has appeared in just one game since a devastating knee injury knocked him out for the entire 2016 season, so he still has plenty to prove. The 25-year-old didn’t have many suitors in free agency, and he probably viewed the situation with the Jets as a good chance to win a starting job. Depending on how things shake out, New York could prefer to trade him if the return is decent.
This isn’t the first positive report we have heard about Bridgewater this offseason, so his stock appears to be trending upward.
