Terrell Owens Blames Coaching for Bengals’ Struggles, Surprised?

Terrell Owens is finally speaking his mind. I must say I have missed T.O.’s antics which have been limited to bashing former coaches and former teammates this season. He always has something to say and loves stirring up controversy. T.O. was recently asked about the Bengals’ struggles and he couldn’t hold his tongue. It wasn’t as blatant as he normally is, but he is definitely taking some shots at his coaching staff.

“I think there’s underachieving from the top down,” Owens said on his Versus TV show. “You start with the owner, you start with the coaches. And obviously we as players, we are a product of what the coaches are coaching us throughout the course of the week.”

“Of course, we have to go out there and play the game. But in order for us to do what we’re allowed to do at the best of our abilities, the coaches have to put the players in the best position.”

T.O. has an enjoyed a mini resurgence to his career this season. After a disappointing year in lowly Buffalo last season, he is among the league’s leaders in receptions and yards with Cincinnati. T.O. is still good — there is no doubt about it. However, he always seems to bring trouble wherever he goes. This season has proven to be unsuccessful for T.O. and the Bengals, but I’d be shocked if a contender isn’t willing to take a shot on the veteran next season. Who knows, maybe he’d be a good fit for Belichick and the Patriots?
